As the temperatures start to drop, many of us are looking for ways to update our skincare routine. If you’re looking for a new trend to try, consider glass skin. This hot and trending look is all about having a radiant complexion with a smooth, pore less finish. Keep reading to learn more about glass skin and find out how you can achieve it!
What is Glass Skin?
Glass skin is intensely hydrated complexion that's dewy. This is exactly what I love, healthy dewy clear skin. It's when your skin is at the absolute healthiest. It should give off the look of being bright and shiny just like glass.
Where did Glass skin originate?
Glass skin is a result of the famous Korean skincare routine which is all about double cleansing, exfoliating, using essences and serums followed by a strong moisturiser. The Koreans had many names originally like see through, clear skin, but the one that stuck and seemed appropriate was the ever so popular “glass skin”.
It's recently gained heavy popularity in the United States and now it’s buzzing all over the trending Aussie babe blogs.
Did it go viral?
When Allure shared aspiring makeup artist Ellie Choi’s “glass skin routine”, it blew up everyone's newsfeeds. Creating hydrated juicy skin that is becoming so popular that beauty Queens like myself are obsessing over.
How do we get healthy hydrated 'glass' skin?
The key to achieving glass skin is all about intensely hydrating your skin and sealing in that moisture. This can be done with a good diet and by using a combination of products, like hydrating essences, serums, and face mists followed by a rich moisturiser.
It’s also important to have a VERY healthy lifestyle with lots of fruit and veggies, and of course, healthy fats. To stay hydrated make sure you always have plenty of water handy, minimise your alcohol and caffeine consumption. And don’t forget plenty of sleep to rid of those nasty dark under-eye circles.
As well as eating and drinking well, you also need to have a really dedicated skin routine, and it doesn’t hurt to be using high-quality products as well. I find that high actives are much more beneficial for my skincare results than organic skincare products. I like to minimise the fluff and use products that are results-driven.
Results should take between one and three weeks to appear.

Investing in high-quality skincare is one of my obsessions, and I'm serious about it. With a few other brands mixed in as well as weekly facials, you'll notice that my favourite and primary skincare line is Environ. No I don't get any kickbacks for listing their products here, I'm just a huuuuuge fan.
What can I say skincare is a passion of mine, and I'm dedicated.
Your morning skincare routine to get that Glass glow
1. To get things started, splash your face with water.
If you want to achieve glass skin, it's important to start with a clean slate. Splash your face with some water to wet your skin and help open up your pores.
2. Get rid of grime with good quality pre-cleansing oil
My favourite Pre-Cleanser is from Environ. It's mostly plant-derived, oil-based pre-cleanser that assists in dissolving sebum and in removing environmental pollutants from the skin. It leaves the skin feeling refreshed and clean whilst maintaining the natural acid mantle of the skin.
To use: Massage all over your face and get right into the creases, wet your hands and really massage the oil into your face.
3. Cleanse your face
I do a double cleanse using my Environ Foaming Cleanser. This is by far the best cleanser I have used, and being a beauty therapist working with a variety of cosmeceuticals in various salons, this is by far my favourite.
This is a mild cleaning lotion that works to remove extra oils, make-up, and other impurities without removing the natural oils from the skin, leaving it soft and rejuvenated.
4. Spritz with spring water
My go to spring water is Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water. I really love using this brand even though any other brand will most likely do the same thing. While my face is still damp I move on to the next step which is applying my Antioxidant Gel.
To use just apply a decent spritz all over onto your cleansed face.
5. Apply your booster.
I can't go past Environ Antioxidant Gel. I use straight after the spring water spray it glides on perfectly.
It has vitamins and antioxidants, including Beta-Carotene, which is a plant form of vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. It leaves the skin feeling protected and looking better. It's a wonderful addition to your skincare routine or even if you have sensitive skin.
6. Nourish the skin around your eyes
Hands down my favourite eye moisturiser is the Environ Vita Peptide Eye Gel. To use it, I apply a small amount to my ring finger and gently dab it along my orbital bone.
This product contains vitamins A, C, and E, as well as green tea extract and other botanicals to help with fine lines, wrinkles, and under-eye bags. It's one of the best eye creams I've used, and I've tried a lot.
To finish off my Glass skin routine, I like to use a hydrating mist and apply my sunscreen. My current favourite sunscreen is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios
7. Moisturise your face
Environ Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturiser 5 is a key part of my daily routine.
This is my favourite moisturiser it is full of so much goodness, it’s the getting shit done every day facial moisturiser. I use level 5 but for newbies, you would start on level 1, and move up with time pending on your skin.
The AVST 5 is the fifth and final step moisturiser in the AVST step-up system, with the highest concentrations of vitamin A and C and a variety of antioxidants, peptides, and moisturising components that leave your skin feeling revitalised and refreshed. Yes please!
8. Protect your skin from UV rays
I use Environ Sun Care every day. This isn’t your average sunscreen, it is packed full of antioxidants. Environ says that one should not underestimate the importance of daily protection from ultra violet rays and free radicals such as pollution. And I couldn’t agree more. . Why do I love this Sunscreen so much? Because it’s non-greasy and lightweight on the skin which is perfect!
