Mascara hack #1
If you have read our previous blogs, then you will know that I’m a bona-fide lover of the heated lash curlers. So ditch your manual lash curling tool and grab a heated lash curler to really lift those lashes up, while also adding in extra length and to open the eyes up.
If you don’t have a heated lash curler and you are using a manual lash curler, don’t stress! You can use a hair dryer to heat up your curler, always checking the temperature first as the metal can heat up quite quickly.

This next hack is a keeper! Imagine you have just done an amazing eye makeup look and you’re on to finishing it off with a beautiful coat of mascara .You haven’t pre cleansed your brush so now your lashes are all clumpy and lumpy looking. This can be a lash nightmare.
To avoid lumps and clumps wipe off excess mascara on a tissue or wet wipe before your first application.

The “roll and lift” Mascara Application
Another winner to add to the list of trending hacks. The best way to apply mascara from roots to ends is to roll and lift. Get to the roots of your lashes and give a little wiggle, then start rolling the brush lifting upwards. This exact technique seems to be the most popular way to apply mascara, roll, wiggIe and lift. I always do the lashes on top first, then underneath the top lashes so that they’re coated with mascara on either side.
When it comes to coating the lower lash line, holding the mascara brush vertically and applying along the lower lashes in a brush down motion, is the most straight-forward and mess-free technique.
Hot tip - Always do the lower lashes first than the tops to avoid your top wet lashes smudging mascara along your eye socket.

Applying a light even layer. Forget the over the top mascara application that is brimming with a thick and heavy look, the simple rule of less is more seems to be favourable and lash artists are still able to achieve a dramatic lash look without over-caking.

It’s all about finding the perfect applicator brush to suit your desired look, and comfortably fit your lash and eye shape. Deciding on your perfect size and perfect material is ideal as it is the main tool in producing sexy lashes.
My all time favourite is either the rubber or silicon wands, seemingly the chosen choice over the fluffy brush style mascara wands.

This mascara hack I only just recently discovered. Want to add some serious
volume? Then get onto this cracker of a hack. Huda Beauty suggests adding
translucent powder onto your natural lashes using a fluffy eye brush, this apparently adds three times more volume to your lashes. Trending over Youtube and TikTok, beauty babes are swearing by this craze too.
Mascara hack #7
Want to prolong the life of your favourite mascara? Don’t you hate it when you finally find the mascara of your dreams, and it starts to dry up all lumpy like the beginning of black concrete? Mascara drying out, I am a non devotee of the kind.
Grab onto this hack and dive straight in by adding a few drops of saline water into your mascara & mixing it in with your brush, you can extend the life of your beloved mascara.

Air is a killer to your mascara. So it’s pretty simple - don't pump your mascara! It will add in excessive air, dry it out and have it gone quicker than a rainbow shirt at an LBGT festival.

I have to admit, this hack I have not personally tried or jumped on yet as it’s another step to your lash process. But according to our belle charmers, using a lash primer on your lashes works as a base for a more dramatic look, giving off a thicker and fuller lash look. It also creates a beautiful even base for your mascara application.

While less is more, if you want that lash drama than one coat sometimes isn’t enough. Applying two or even three coats of mascara will give you that dramatization you may be seeking. Most mascaras are designed to go in for the two coat process. By applying a third coat you do run the risk of causing clumpy coated lashes. Commonly known as the “spider” effect.
Hot tip - don’t let your mascara dry before applying your second or third coat.

This hack is a winner because this is exactly what happens to me, what is it you ask? The bottom lashes smudging mascara under your eyes. Maybe if you’re wanting a “out all night” black smudged look, but I’m definitely doting over the clean and fresh under eye look. Here it is, waterproof mascara for the bottom lashes. So easy!

Using a clean lash spoolie can be the best tool to use for brushing your lashes after your mascara application. This helps to avoid getting clumped and lumped lashes, which isn’t always a desired outcome. One of my first memories is watching my mum unclump her lashes with a threading needle, absolutely crazy and incredibly dangerous.

Make sure you replace your mascara every three months. Old mascara is dead mascara, and with bacteria thriving in the darkness on your mascara tube, bacteria build up is destined to occur. Also the more you use your mascara wand the more likely you are to contaminate it with germs. As nasty as it sounds, it is definitely best to make sure you are replacing your old mascara.
Hot tip- getting your makeup professionally done? Make sure your chosen makeup Artist is using a disposable mascara wand and not double dipping to prevent cross contamination.
